What is Methyl Methacrylate?

by Debbie Mann

Methyl Methacrylate, or MMA, is a 2-part component consisting of paint and peroxide hardener. With a fast curing time, MMA is highly durable and has the potential to last far longer than hot thermoplastic.

Durability and clarity are the two fundamentals when it comes to high quality Health and Safety floor markings. To achieve bright and bold markings, our team use a range of paints and materials such as MMA, which helps to ensure our clients’ facilities are clearly marked, to keep staff and visitors safe at all times.

This material can be used in a sprayer, as well as a screed box, which enables it to be used to mark out a range of markings including:

  • Mini roundabouts
  • Pedestrian crossings
  • Zebra crossings
  • Markings on concrete or brick paving surfaces

The benefits of MMA for Health and Safety markings:

MMA can cure at temperatures as low as 10 degrees Celsius, which makes it ideal for use outside, where Health and Safety markings must be able to withstand all weather conditions.

This product is also extremely durable, making it perfect to use within areas of your warehouse or site where there are high levels of traffic, such as footfall, forklifts and other vehicles.

Finally, despite the initial cost being more than other paints and materials available of the market, due to MMA’s durability and long lifespan, it is a great investment for your business.
